Annnd I’m back with a Friday Favorites! This week went by fast… Anyways, today I’m showing you my favorite acne spot treatment medication. This is another product that I just randomly picked up one day when I really needed something for my acne. It’s called Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment!
Now, truth be told, I never had terrible acne as a teenager – the only time it really got bad was when I was on my period. Other than that, I would get a few pimples every now and again, something I would say was pretty normal. Even now, I still get a few here and there but they usually go away pretty fast (especially with this) – but again, mostly during my period…
Also – a fun fact about me – is that I’m such a picker. I absolutely cannot handle having something on my face, my cuticles, or my arms, on Mark’s face – it irks me so bad. But I definitely do not recommend picking at anything at all if you don’t know how to properly do it. I have a scar on my chin from when I picked at a pimple and went too far because I was so nervous about an audition I was doing for a talent school (yes, I was that kid, lol!). However – I will say that I feel that this product works the best when the pimple is open. There are so many different types of pimples so please be cautious if you decide to pop yours! If it’s not ready – it’s not ready, be patient, I promise it’ll heal much faster and you can prevent it from coming back in the same spot if you’re able to pop it correctly.
Once it is open, squeeze as much gunk as you can out – including any blood if it’s bleeding. While I don’t know if this is medically correct – I have always thought that the blood coming from a pimple was contaminated with pimple-causing bacteria. And I don’t know about you but that just makes sense to me… Either way, it’s what I’ve been doing and it’s been working. So once you’ve gotten everything out, apply a generous amount of this product on and around the pimple and let. It. Burn.
Yes, it will burn… It has 2% salicylic acid in it, which is actually a lot – but I promise it doesn’t dry your skin out like a lot of other medications do! Along with this, please be mindful of your eyes, if you have a pimple on your nose or your forehead you might feel how strong it is. It does go away, I promise, it’s only at first while the product is settling into your skin – same goes for the burn.
If I have the day off or if I’m already home, I typically try applying this every couple hours – it does dry clear as it is a gel so if you wanted to wear makeup over it, you can. It’s a little shiny on the skin but other than that, it’s not too noticeable if you just wanted to go out and run errands while you let it work. In my opinion, especially when breaking out – no makeup is the best makeup!
I love this product so much, it sits usually under $10 USD and can be found pretty much any where – Walmart, Target, Rite-Aid, etc. It is a clear gel, that goes on smoothly if in case you were to put makeup over it. And compared to other acne medications and spot treatments, I feel the scent isn’t too strong… It smells quite a bit better than most and it does fade after it settles into your skin so you’re not walking around all day smelling like a doctor’s lab!
Thanks so much for tuning in for today’s post! Comment down below if you’re a picker too – I don’t find too many people who like to admit it!
