In the year that I have been blogging… And how many “Friday Favorites” I’ve done I don’t know why it’s never occurred to me to talk about my absolute FAVORITE drugstore foundation.
One of the best things about it? It’s 5 dollars at Walmart. Not that Walmart is my favorite place to buy makeup… But it’s down a few streets from where we live and it’s only 5 dollars, so, let’s be real.
I would spend $50+ dollars on a bottle of luxury makeup brand foundation only to be let down later on. I tried Tarte, I tried MAC, I tried Lancome, etc. Lancome actually had a really good one then they changed the formula and I didn’t like it… But I’m not bashing high-end brands or the people who purchase their foundation. Everyone is different and if you like it – then I love it! You do you. Even I spend a good $30 on my favorite Nars lipstick and Dior lipgloss. (Check out my Friday Favorites post on those two!)
But after being so disappointed, I gave up and decided to go back to the drugstore where I could be just as unhappy for much less money. And to this day, I don’t know why or how I decided to pick it up… I think it must’ve been the price tag to be quite honest with you because I think I was just so disappointed that I didn’t even care anymore. What’s that saying though? It has to rain so that there can be rainbows or something? Well, it did. The clouds and heavens above opened up and everything when I purchased that bottle of Match Perfection.
Ok, I’m getting a little carried away. But the point is, I freakin’ love it!
I have never gotten so many compliments on my skin until I started wearing this. It looks young, dewy almost but without looking oily! That being said, I definitely don’t recommend this if you do have oily skin. You might be able to get away with it if you have combination skin, just apply powder in those areas of course! It’s definitely buildable but the formula keeps it from caking. I find it wears all day perfectly fine for me and my daily duties, however, if you’re looking for something that’ll take you from 6am at work to 10pm date night – this isn’t the one for you.
I use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend it but I’m sure you can use any liquid foundation brush if you’d rather. It blends beautifully and evenly. I use the color Ivory and I find that it matches me really well! I just can’t forget blush otherwise I look like a ghost, but I’d say that goes for anyone.
What’s your favorite drugstore foundation? High-end foundation? I want to give them a try again so please, leave your best recommendations below! And let me know if you decide to give my favorite a try.
