Hello, my friends! I can’t believe it’s mid-November already… Goodness gracious, I feel like the days keep coming faster and faster. But as promised, I have my full review of the Beauty Counter Hydrating Foundation called Tint Skin, here!
My last blog post about this foundation was my first impression. I had only used it once or twice… I didn’t fully play with it at the time, however, the “why” behind the company was enough to get me to try it.
In my eyes, because I am trying so hard to get rid of toxic products in my home, a clean foundation – whether or not it worked as amazing as my previous ones – was better than no foundation.
So, regardless of whether I liked it all that much, I was going to use it for the time being, until I found something I liked a better (if I didn’t end up liking it) but was just as clean.
I’ll admit at first, I wasn’t sure what to expect… I was pleasantly surprised, but not entirely sold.
Now, a month later, I am IN LOVE… And here’s why.
Clean Ingredients
This is obvious, I mean it’s the main reason I purchased it. You can read more about their “Never List” here.
Also, did you know they are EWG certified?!? Check it out here.
It’s Lightweight
This is what makes my skin feel like it can breathe… My skin feels soft and smooth, it legitimately feels like MY skin.
This also makes it look very natural which is what I tend to go for unless I’m going to some fancy event – which is almost never. 😅
It Matches My Skin Perfectly
I don’t know what the technology is that went into making this stuff, but the shades really are flexible. I’m naturally pale with a yellow-undertone and any of you who have that as well know that it’s sometimes super difficult to match. A lot of foundations out there are super pink – or they first apply the right shade and then oxidize!
I can assure you that I did not notice any oxidation. For reference, I ordered Tint Skin in the shade, Linen. The Beauty Counter hydrating foundation is truly very “skin”-like. It blends naturally into my skin.
It’s Buildablility
This was actually a super big concern of mine because I typically wear a medium-coverage foundation. However, after playing with it, I was able to build it! And I HIGHLY recommend using a sponge blender over a brush… I find that using a brush leaves streaks.
I’m not entirely sure if that’s due to my specific brush – for reference, this is the brush set that I have, linked HERE. Nonetheless, I use the same sponge shown in that kit and I have found it to apply flawlessly!
I do soak the sponge in water and squeeze out the excess every time I do my make up. I find that it picks up less foundation that way… I’ll be completely honest though, it does feel like it takes quite a bit of foundation to build it. This depends on your preference though… My medium-coverage might be your full-coverage.
For that reason, I only do 2 applications, and I find that it covers me well (not quite what I was used to though). I do wish that the Beauty Counter hydrating foundation offered more coverage…
HAVE YOU READ THE FIRST IMPRESSION POST?
Surprisingly, I did not break out from my cycle this past month so I can’t exactly speak on that, but in conjunction with my new skincare routine, I am confident that my skin will be taken care of enough that using a lighter coverage foundation shouldn’t be a problem.
I also wanted to touch on this though, previously, I did NOT have an actual skincare routine. After starting this new routine, I immediately noticed a change in the way that this foundation not only applied – but the way it looked on me, too. I’ll be sharing details on that soon – and spoiler alert – it’s actually not Beauty Counter. But I do think that it is a HUGE reason why I love this foundation too even though it’s a lighter coverage foundation than what I’m used to. When you take care of your skin, there’s less work for your foundation to do, and the better it looks!
I also figured I’d mention that Kristi said there’s some talk about Beauty Counter working towards creating a full-coverage foundation – and you can bet that I’ll be back for that one!
I encourage you to take a look at how your foundation and skincare products rate on the EWG site! Simply look up the ingredients online for the item you want to check out and add it to THIS site right here, then click on “Get Your Report”. EWG will break it down for you!
I’m so excited that I’ve found a company that not only is fighting for access to better beauty across the board by pushing through legislation, but that also has amazing products that actually work! Have you tried Beauty Counter yet??
