First blog post of the new year! I am so excited to share my top 10 best Amazon purchases from last year with you all. It is such a random list of things but I promise – every single thing has truly been worth its weight in gold.
Okay don’t laugh at me but… I’ve lived the past 5 years of my life without a printer. When Mark and I first moved out, my mom gave me a printer that ended up not working properly. So I was frustrated, gave it back and never thought to buy a new one since I rarely ever needed to print anything. I’d usually print at work or I would go to the library and just pay the 10 cents and be on my way.
Well now, with my business and being a mom, I HATED running to the library, printing it out and then running to the post office because I might as well take it myself if I was already out. I would do this every single time, and with a toddler at that!
With this laser printer, not only is it the smallest of its class… But since it uses toner, I know that I don’t have to worry about the ink drying out even if I go months without printing anything. In the long run, it saves soooo much money. No, it doesn’t print color but its fast, it scans, copies, and it’s wireless!
Literally perfect for anyone who either doesn’t print much, or runs a small business (invoices, shipping labels, etc) and doesn’t need to print in color. For color print jobs, I usually go to Costco or Office Depot anyway.
This has literally been one of the best things I’ve ever purchased… I don’t always do dishes by hand but when I do it’s either the bigger things like a pot we used to cook dinner in or sometimes it’s just one bowl or one cup. So for those, why run the whole dishwasher if we don’t need to, right?
And rather than taking up a huge section of our counter space – we bought this and LOVE that it doesn’t make a mess of water! Then when it’s dry we just roll it up and put it away. This has been such a lifesaver since we’re still apartment living and we probably have the smallest kitchen we’ve ever had before.
I also find it perfect for when I want to quickly wash potatoes, carrots, asparagus… Since those types of food are much more porous, I don’t soak to wash them. I do a light rinse by laying them across the rack and just running water over it.
So, I’ve always been baffled by the people who can watch and read their screens with the brightness way up… I don’t know how some of you do it but it hurts my eyes! And since I’ve been working a lot on the computer the past few years, I ordered a new pair of prescription glasses about a year and a half ago with the blue light protection.
And last month, Mark decided to get a pair of blue light non-prescription protection glasses for when he plays his video games late at night. He was impressed by how much it helped him!
A couple weeks ago, I was cleaning up and I was SHOCKED to see that they were almost yellow tinted, but the difference was unbelievable. His were actually better at protecting than mine.
I’m not gonna lie, having a slight yellow tint is not idea for everyday wear… Which is why I assume mine aren’t like that. But I’m ordering a pair for myself because I somehow STILL experience eye-strain. I am so excited because this has always been a problem for me and Mark hasn’t complained or gotten a headache since using his.
It is a must-have if you work on a computer all day but it’s perfect even just for watching TV. I highly recommend these. They’re inexpensive, and come in so many different styles to match your taste!
Since I am constantly taking picture for my blog (and because apartment lighting sucks) I decided to invest some money into a photography lighting kit. And I know – some of that stuff is so expensive… BUT these weren’t. I paid about $38 for TWO and got free shipping!
So whether you’re trying to up your Instagram game or you’re just a mom trying to take some decent pictures of your babies, I highly recommend these. Yes, they’re not the highest quality (the stands are pretty cheap) – but they WORK! And you can always replace those later if you really care that much… There also super easy to put up and break down but I’m able to get away with just using one and I leave it up in a corner because it actually doesn’t take up that much room (again, apartment living here).
I believe I shared these in another post of mine… But I had to put these on the list because they’re so amazing! If you haven’t switched to dryer balls yet – YOU NEED TO!
They’re so much better for the environment, they last a super long time, reduce drying time, static, and hair. They’re also super inexpensive and best of all, they’re non-toxic!
Continuing in the spirit of caring for the environment, using reusable shopping bags has changed my life! I have 5 from Fredmyer that I had bought back when they had the really nice, thick, recycled plastic ones… But since our family has grown and they no longer sell those, I’ve had an incredibly difficult time finding ones that were of high quality.
Then I came across this one on Amazon and it was literally perfect! It is HUGE, so just be mindful of how much stuff you actually put into it but I love it for those carry-it-all-in-one-trip moments! And it’s perfect for the huge bags of cereal we buy (especially because we always buy one more than one kind and one bag doesn’t even fit into a single plastic bag at the store).
The quality is superb… I can’t imagine it ever breaking on me!
Okay, I know this is a baby product… But you can use this for scabs or cuts or anything you don’t necessarily want touch (postpartum mamas can use this to help treat any stitches)… I also think I’ve written a blog post including this BUT it is an amazing product that I purchased from Amazon so here it is!
It’s just so much more sanitary and easier to clean up after a diaper change (which is what we primarily used this for). This was a staple in my diaper bag but I’ll be keeping this in our first aid kit after we’re done potty training for those weird situations you’d never think you’d need it for!
Yeah… So this is another thing that I lived without for SO LONG.
I had bought a regular iron when Mark and I first moved out but I absolutely hated using it and it started to spit out white flakes after a while… I’m not sure exactly what was wrong with it, but it sealed my decision to get rid of it.
I thought about buying a bigger, standing steamer but this honestly is perfect because I usually hang up our clothes after I do the laundry so it minimizes the need for a steamer. This is just for those special occasions when I need something to be extra crisp or for the smaller things like the couch pillows that never really seem to go back to looking like new unless I use this!
So affordable and easy to use.
I’ll admit. We actually didn’t buy this for ourselves – but it is the best thing for anyone with fruit trees! My step-mother-in-law has 2 apples trees in her backyard and during one summer I helped her pick a few pounds for apple sauce. At the time we didn’t think to get one of these but boy do they make a difference!
And for the last thing I wanted to share… You all may know that I love real leather. The quality is just so much better and treated much less than synthetic of course.
I love this super cute and simple leather business card holder! It is a steal at less than $10. Perfect for all types of cards but I do indeed keep my business cards in it.
It’s so easy to open and close, small enough to keep in my hand when I’m out networking, and it’s smooth so it’s very professional looking. It could also make for a great, inexpensive gift for coworkers!
Honestly, I shop on Amazon all the time… This is just a small list of things that stood out to me – but if you like seeing these, let me know! I can come up with lists for literally every category.
