Ok, so I’m gonna be honest here… I never really had a “skincare routine”. It was never really a priority to me. And I knew that my skin was aging because I could feel it… Only I figured it was just my transition into adulthood.
I knew that I should probably start thinking about getting on a good regimen. After all, the key to no wrinkles is prevention, instead of trying to get rid of them later… So let me tell you about my natural skin care routine!
I knew I needed to make a change.
I noticed my skin really starting to age after many sleepless nights with my newborn. Hoping to find something cheap and effective, I tried a few of the ones available at Walmart… It was a bad idea.
They were heavily scented and full of toxins – I felt that I had to be super careful around my daughter. After a couple of weeks, I tossed them in the trash and decided it was time to make the change I desperately needed. Thus began for my search for good, clean and effective products that would actually fit my natural skin care needs.
About this time, I was also starting to use my essential oils from doTERRA and I was playing around with the concept of using an oil serum. I went back and forth with myself on whether I should purchase some oils to use or to try out Beauty Counter’s Counter Time collection.
I ultimately decided on the oils because I was already investing in them anyway and I also saw some ladies share truly incredible results with scar fading. Like, seriously, you would have NEVER known they had a scar.
If you want to see them, send me a message! I’d be happy to share their posts.
Then I found jojoba oil.

After doing some research I settled on jojoba oil and I noticed results after 3 days! Especially because I also purchased a derma-roller. (Btw, I have all these things linked in my Amazon favorites under beauty!)
I know, you’re probably thinking maybe I just have super dry skin… But nope. I have actually always had combination skin. Everything but my nose tended to overproduce… And even if it comes as a surprise, the products you’re using on the daily can also be the reason why you’re overproducing. That means there’s an imbalance somewhere.
Jojoba oil is actually unique to all other oils… It acts as natural sebum, similar to the way your natural skin oils do. For that reason, it can actually help regulate the overproduction of your skin oils – which makes it a perfect addition to any natural skin care routine!
I know that using powders might seem helpful by reducing oil shine… But you’re actually encouraging your skin to produce even more, as it feels the need to make up for the oil being taken off… If your foundation is a powder, then be sure to moisturize beforehand with a little bit of time for it to settle into your skin.
As for the jojoba oil, I use the derma-roller to help my skin absorb it a little easier and quicker. It also stimulates my skin, which in turn will help with new cell growth and fewer wrinkles! I typically roll my skin before I apply the oil, but some people choose to do it the other way around. Either way is totally fine as long as the derma-roller is being cleaned and sterilized between uses.

I would not recommend using the derma-roller if you have any open wounds, raw acne, or just have extremely sensitive skin. And I would be very cautious about using it on sensitive skin in general; perhaps be a little lighter, don’t use it for too long, and don’t use it too often.
I started out by using it twice a week and only at night, I use two pumps of jojoba oil twice a day. Once before I do my makeup, I try to let it sit in for a little bit, about 15 minutes or so. And then again right after I shower or wash my face off for the night. I also want to specify that I actually wash my face, I don’t just take it off with makeup remover and then add my jojoba oil…
When I do that I feel like I still leave a lot of residue on my face. I use my Clarisonic Mia 2 both in and out of the shower and I just use a little bit of Lily’s baby wash (I am in the market for a new facial cleanser). BTW, jojoba oil also works extremely well to take makeup off and it does it gently! I simply use a cotton pad for that.
My natural skin now.

After almost a month of this natural skin care routine… I have seen such a difference in my skin. Lines and wrinkles are less apparent and the youthful glow that I used to see is coming back! I’m super excited about this and alone it is the perfect everyday moisturizer. Not to mention even that even the organic one is super affordable. I paid about 13 dollars for the bottle.
And if you’re on my email list, you might have already heard about this… But I do have an oil serum I am working on! I’m playing around with different carrier oils, essential oils and vitamin E oil to see what will work best. Hopefully soon, I will be able to find the right blend of all the oils to share with you.
I’ve also seen a major improvement in my stretch marks! This will be another skin serum too. Be sure to subscribe to my email list so you don’t miss out when they’re ready.
Let me know in the comments below what you’re doing for your natural skin care! Or if you’ve tried this out for yourself and how you liked it!
